The robot culture and bubble tea culture is slowly raising in Kuching city. Recently, several bubble tea shop just pop up at the newly developed commercial zone – Gala city Kuching. One of it being a bubble tea shop named 5201314, also known as “a talking cup of tea”.

It is located at the prime location beside the busy road of Jalan Tun Jugah. Jalan Tun Jugah is one of the main road connecting important areas of the city and the Kuching International Airport.

The store is at the ground floor of the two office tower which bares the huge “Gala City” signage. Once you have met the famous 6 bronze cat statue of Gala City, the bubble tea shop is just across the parking lot.

The Environment of 5201314 Bubble Tea Shop

From the outside, the bubble shop looks like a huge restaurant with most sides cover with glass walls. It had the feel of premium and quality from the view of it. It features modern and futuristic design with emphasis of spacious environment.

From the first view of the store front logo, we wonder a while… what should we call it ? 5201314? a talking cup of tea? or just 52OVE 13!4? but in the end we just call it 5201314 bubble tea shop.

why the weird naming of a bubble tea shop ? according to the owner, it was called a talking cup of tea because many couple are very shy to tell their feeling and love to partner. So by naming many of their bubble tea series with hidden meaning (especially in Chinese where many words do have same pronunciation or sounds the same), it can indirectly tell the other one something important. It is the hidden meaning that is sweet to the heart. The cup of tea do talk indirectly.

5201314 being a number have its meaning if you read it in Chinese. “520” means “i love you”, and “1314” means “forever in eternity”. The theme is self explanatory. It is “Love” being the main theme. In other words it can be a place for couples to meet up, or it is a place for people who is passion about bubble tea.

From within, the double spaced interior with high ceiling gave the sense of space. You won’t feel crowded here. The glass walls also allow natural lighting into the shop with enough transparency to enjoy the view outside.

To spice things up, they have robots to serve your drinks.These are Restaurant Service Robot or known as Amy-Trackless Robot Waiter developed by Csjbot. What they do is to bring drinks to your table, and not the level of mixing and matching your milk tea, yet. Who knows, technology is getting advance with time.

These robots have LED facial expression that can express happiness, sadness, and they do cry if done mistakes. It is hilarious to see there facial expression alone.

If you wish to have some privacy, you can opt to go to the 2nd level of the shop via the lift. There are few couple seats here, which carters for couples on their date. There are cute stuffed animals available here for photo shooting.
