The Rules and Regulation of Farm in the City

When visiting Farm in the City, do follow the rules and regulation of the farm for the safety of the animals and visitors, and cleanliness of the farm for the next visitor. Do read at their lengthy Rules and Regulation board beside the ticket counter.

The Basic Rules and Regulation of Farm in the City:

  • Do not step on the grass
  • Do not pick the plants
  • Do not disturb the animals
  • Pets are not allowed
  • No outside food and drinks allowed
  • Do not litter
  • Do not smoke
  • Do not cross barriers or railings

It should be noted that there is strictly no refunds or re-validation will be entertained due to inclement weather, natural disaster and/or force majuere. Tickets sold are not refundable.

The basic rules when visit the animals.

The Animal Food Machine

The park is fitted with Animal Food Machine. These vending machine will dispense box of animal feed with exchange for 2 credit token, which is equivalent to RM2.00 . This allows visitors to pay a premium if they want to experience feeding the animals themselves. Not all animals can be fed in the park.

Do bring cash into the park if you want to feed the animals or have a pony ride. The exchange rate for the token is RM 1.00 per token. The token exchange machine only accepts RM1.00, RM5.00, RM10.00 and RM20.00 notes.

The Pellet is small, rounded, compressed mass of animal food that is suitable for feeding the Fishes and Swan.

The Hay is grass that has been mown and dried for use as a foder for Alpaca, Goat, Deer, Rabbits and Guinea Pigs.

At the Entrance

After visiting the pet shop and gift shop at the main entrance, you will have the chance to view the Cow and Ostrich farm. Other than cow and ostrich, there are also Saanen goat and pony. This is a free to view section before you proceed to the ticket counter few steps down a stairs.

School usually organize day trip to Farm in the City to expose kids to animals in a petting zoo.

Curious Ostrich.

The ostrich is the largest flightless bird in the world. Despite being largest, they are also the fastest running bird and lay the largest eggs. These ostrich usually will get close to the visitors but beware of your heads as they might peck on your head.

The farm is build as close to nature as possible. You will see free roaming chickens and pigeons around the park. They even have a chicken hatching her eggs at a nest beside the ticket counter.

The Turtle and Tortoise

The turtle and tortoise house or known as “Longevity Village” is the first part of the farm where you visit after the ticket counter. Visitors will be greet by huge tortoise roaming around. These huge tortoise is walks very slowly and is very heavy. Visitors can feed the tortoise with the green leaves.

The Giant Tortoise.

The giant tortoise available here is the second and third largest species in the world. By looking at the lines on the shell, they had lived for very long time.

There are also wide range of rare and exotic turtles and tortoise here, including Star Tortoise, Radiated Tortoise Leopard Tortoise, Red-footed Tortoise, Alligator Snapping Turtle, Pig-nosed Turtle and many more.

The Eastern Long Neck Turtle.

The Eastern Long Neck Turtle is origin from Northern and Sourthern Australia. They feed on insects, worms, tadpoles, frogs, small fish, crustaceans, and molluscs. They have a lifespan of 30-40 years.

The dinosaur turtle or known as alligator snapping turtle.

The dinosaur turtle, or known as the alligator snapping turtle, is one of the heaviest freshwater turtle. They are named – alligator – as they has powerful jaws, and shell like the skin of alligator. Their origin from Southeastern United States, feeds on fish and aquatic animals, and have a lifespan of around 80 – 120 years.

The red footed tortoise.

The red footed tortoise has red dots at their foot. They are origin from North America, and feed on plants, fruits and invertebrates. The average lifespan is around 40 – 50 years.

The radiated tortoise.

The carapace of the radiated tortoise is brilliantly marked with yellow lines radiating from the center of each dark plate of the shell. The tortoise is origin from Madagascar, feed on leaves, grasses and fruits. The average lifespan is around 40 – 50 years.

The Savanna

The savanna is a place you can meet the Alpaca, Javan Deer, Jamnapari Goat, Sulcata Tortoise, Dusky Wallaby, Silky Chicken, Cochin Chicken and Turkey. Visitor can feed the Alpaca, goat and deer here at the Savanna.

The Javan Deer is known as Rusa Timorensis and is the largest species of Rusa. It is origin from Java Island, Bali and East Timor.

The Jamnapari Goat is also known as Capra aegagrus hircus, is the largest goat in india. These breed is one of the ancestors of the american nubian.

The Sulcata Tortoise is also known as Geochelone sulcata, is the third largest species of tortoise in the world. The term “sulcata” actually means “furrow” in Latin. This pertains to the furrows which can be found on a sulcata tortoise’s scale.

The pet village if a place where you can feed the cute and fluffy rabbits, and friendly Guinea Pigs. Watch how the rabbit nibble the vegetables that you offer them.

The Longkang Fishing signage.

Longkang fishing is favourite pastime of the older generations, however not many younger generations may miss this fun opportunity, especially those live in urban areas. Longkang fishing is basically catching fishes at a longkang (a local word for drains). You can catch fishes at the drain with clear water by hands or using containers or fish nets.

Fish and Swan Feeding

Witness thousand of fishes ranging from Koi Fish, Tilapia and Cat fish rushing towards your feeds at the lake at the Farm in the City. When you handed out the pallet feeds, no only fishes rushes to you, the ducks and swan at the lake will all come to you.

The Koi Fish is also known as Cyprinus carpio. The word ‘Koi’ in Japanese refers to “Love” or “Affection”. People in Japan believe that koi fishes symbolizes wealth, prosperity, love, successful career and good fortune. Each variety is associated with one of those values.

You will need at least two – three hours in the farm, visiting all the animals in the farm. There is many other attraction around the farm. Do take your time strolling in the farm and enjoy the nature beauty and diversity of animals and pets.

The Asian Small Clawed Otter is also known as Aonyx Cinerea. They are the smallest otter species in the world. They are only one kind of otter that can catch the food by their hand.
