Kuching Street Parade 2023

The Kuching Street Parade 2023 is celebrated on 5th August 2023, in conjunction of Sarawak’s 60th anniversary of independence. The Kuching Street Parade consist of total 60 contingent and involving more than 2,400 parade participants that makes up from various institution and organization. Each contingent also performing amazing performances and dance during the parade, in order to compete to win the best performance from different category. The parade successfully showcase the city’s vibrant culture and bright community spirit.

Event : Kuching Street Parade 2023

Theme : “Sarawak Maju Makmur”

Date : 5th August 2023 (Saturday)

Time : 7:00PM – 12:00MN

Location : Kuching City center, along the Kuching Waterfront.

Route : The parade kicked off at Travillion Commercial Centre at Padungan Road, then venture into Tunku abdul Rahman Road where the mainstage is located, then proceed to Main Bazaar Road where the parade ends at the Post office building at Tun Haji Openg Road. The total length of the parade route is 2.5Kilometers.

The Kuching Street Parade 2023 is not merely a normal parade, but also involves competition between 60 strong contingent. The mainstage in front of the Hilton Hotel is the place where special performance and judgement takes place.

Competition category :

• Open category including Government department and agency and non-government associations
• International category
• Community category
• Band group category
• School and higher learning institution category

Prize money for each of the competition category:

• First prize – RM5,000 and trophy
• Second Prize – RM3,000 and trophy
• Third Prize – RM2,000 and trophy

The contingent from various agencies portray different and unique costume and appearance, some feature Sarawak wildlife costumes that tells the biodiversity of Sarawak, while other dress in traditional clothing from various ethnicity that showcase the diverse in culture in Sarawak. There are also contingent with participants wearing modern clothing that depict the modernization of Sarawak.

The Kuching Street Parade 2023 ends with a amazing grand finale multicultural dance and a fire show with background fireworks over the Kuching Waterfront. It is a amazing event that showcase the cultural diversity and its unity.
