The Cat statue by the Tree at Roxy Hotel Padungan, Kuching

The great white cat statue is one of the famous monumental landmark at padungan roundabout in Kuching City. For years the great white cat statue was lonely, but now it is no more. With an addition of the black white cat statue in front of Roxy Hotel Padungan opposite the roundabout, this two cats tells a new story of cat romance in City of Cat Kuching.

This statue is created as part of the promotional of Roxy Hotel. Prior to this, Roxy Hotel at third mile Kuching feature several full sized bronze kangaroo sculpture.

The new 3 meter tall, full featured adult cat statue is placed beside the busy road of Jalan Padungan just this year. This create a new landmark for tourist to take photos beside the already famous great white cat statue.

The cat statue featured a bi-color black and white cat with the black patch over the back and head in mask and mantle pattern. The mask and mantle pattern is one of the bi-color cat fur color pattern where the head, back and shoulder of the cat is black in color while the belly is white in color. It is one of the elegant pattern that many cat lover loves, secondary to cat with tuxedo bi-color pattern.

The cat statue standing on two paws and leaning on a full grown tree beside the road. The cat appears alert and looking at one direction – the padungan roundabout, or some say the great white cat.

Although the gender of this cat statue is unknown, but by first glance of the cat statue, it appears that this bi-color cat is fall in love with the great white cat opposite the Padungan Roundabout. It is a cat statue romance where the great white cat wave its paws and say “hi” while the bi-color cat stays shy peaking behind the tree.

The statue is located beside the busy road, taking photos with this statue with caution as you may literally standing at the edge of the road to take a good photos. However feel free to visit the Roxy Hotel Padungan during your visit here.
