The landmark is easily and clearly not to be missed if you traveled along Jalan Padungan. It is exactly at the front entrance of the boulevard leading to the MBKS building.
The design of the Entrance Signage incorporate the feature of interactive frame with cat statue at both side of the frame.
The blue frame is build from metal I-beam, forms a iconic upright rectangle frame which is reminds us the familiar yellow rectangle of National Geographic channel.
The huge frame is design such a way that it encompass the background of the MBKS building nicely and well centered. It is specifically build for photographers in mind. Tourist need not find hard to figure out how to take a nice photo shoot here.
With “build for dummies” in mind, there is even a well painted floor marking that marks out where is the best place to center your camera.
At the center bottom of the frame, there is a huge “MBKS” wording. MBKS stands for “Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan”, which is the malay word for “Kuching South City Council.”
There is cat statue on both side of the metal frame. The two silver-grey adult cat with blue eyes (possibly a Siamese cat breed ?) pose beautifully looking on the right. The cat statue is entirely build from concrete. It matches well with the surrounding shrubs and greens.
If you are here, get close with these adorable cats and take close up photos with them. The cat on the left hands out its paws to you. You can take a hand on hand shot with this cat.
