Chinese New Year of the year 2017 is symbolized as the Year of the Rooster according to the Chinese Zodiac. Hence many shopping malls have Rooster Themed decorations. The Spring Shopping Mall Kuching adapted golden rooster as its main attraction at the center court.

The Spring Colors of Prosperity event listing.
Upon entering the West Court of the mall from the front entrance, visitors are greeted by many decorative ornaments.
The most striking is the rows of colorful lantern trees along the west court. There are many colorful Chinese paper crafted lantern forming the leaves of the trees. It is in keeping with the theme “colors of prosperity”.

The main attraction of the whole decoration goes to the Golden Rooster statue standing proudly at the center of the center court. The statue is a symbolic representation of a rooster, with the body of the rooster featuring a Huge Chinese Gold Ingot. The clever merge of the Gold Ingot and Gold Rooster brings out the final meaning of “prosperity”.
The pedestal of the statue have a inner rotating mechanism that moves the motives around the pedestal. Accompany by many colorful lanterns lying around the pedestal.
This attraction had been famous for selfies and wefies photographic opportunities.

Nevertheless, the famous in-mall functional train replica by the Kidzoonia still functioning as usual. With RM5.00 per person, kids and adults can have a ride around the center court of the mall.
The Train tour around the mall center court is now decorated with Chinese new year ornaments.
