Miri is the second largest city in Sarawak, Malaysia and the capital of Miri Province. It is located in the northern part of Sarawak, next to Brunei. Miri Province is the second largest province in Sarawak and the earliest oil producer in Malaysia. It is also known as Oil City. The development of oil has led to the development of the city and is the main economic pillar of the early days. The later economic development also focused on indigenous products, timber, agriculture (mainly oil palm farming), shipbuilding, education, and tourism. The locals of Miri City did make amazing handicraft, and the best place to look for vast collection of handicraft in Miri City is the Miri Handicraft Center. You can find woven basket, wood carvings, beads and ornaments, traditional clothing, paintings and traditional musical instruments here. All are handcrafted by local natives.
