In conjunction with the Kuching City Day 30th Anniversary Pearl Jubilee celebration, Kuching City Day Street Parade 2018 is one of the event not to be miss. Let’s join to celebrate the parade of unity along with all different races and cultural backgrounds.

Route : Kuching South City Council (MBKS) – Jalan Padungan – Waterfront – Padang Merdeka
The Street Parade starts at MBKS around 6.00-6.30pm, walking along Jalan Padungan passing by the padungan roundabout cat statue and continue along the old shop houses of Jalan Padungan, passing by Tun Jugah Shopping Centre and the famous landmark cat statue in front of Hotel Grand Margherita. The parade continues on Jalan Main Bazaar along the Kuching Waterfront and Kuching Waterfront Bazaar, crossing the grand stand around 8.00 pm in front of Plaza Merdeka and ends at Padang Merdeka.
This year’s street parade contingent is divided into four main category including Traditional Cultural Costume and Modern Creative costume and Brass Band Performances. There is total of more than 50 teams joining the parade this year. There is no age limits for the parade and this makes a perfect event for families to join together.
The 17th Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival (KIMF) is also a on-going cultural and food festival along Carpenter Street and Ewe Hai Street in Downtown Kuching from 17th September 2018 (Monday) till 24th September 2018 (Monday), from 6.30pm till 11pm. Highlights of the festival includes Lantern-making Competition, Food fair, Cultural performances, Chinese Calligraphy and many more. This festival is hosted by Federation of Kuching Division Community Associations and the Old Market Community Association. Don’t forget to drop by the Mooncake Festival after the Street Parade.
Route and Traffic Detour
In conjunction to the Kuching City Day Street Parade, Some of the streets along the parade route will be closed and detoured . The traffic control is as early as 3pm till 11.30pm. Follow the instruction of traffic police and council’s enforcement staff at all times to ensure a safe and pleasant event experience.

The Kuching City Day Street Parade 2018
The Kuching City Day Street Parade starts and ends successfully with gorgeous performances and majestic fireworks. It was a cool day and the streets is packed with locals and international tourists. The parade pass by many important landmarks and major hotels beside Kuching Waterfront and thousands had witness this memorable day in conjunction with Kuching City Day 30th Anniversary Pearl Jubilee celebration.
The Street Parade is officiated by Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib bin Mahmud.
The parade started from the MBKS grounds at 6.30pm and proceed to the famous landmark – Padungan Roundabout Cat Statue and the Kuching Chinatown Gateway.
The Big Bikers Motocycle parade takes the first lead, roaring along the streets and break the silence of the old china street of Jalan Pandungan. The parade proceed with orderly fashion according to the contingent number.
Next is the parade by MBKS members with a mini floats, featuring a pearly white sea shell with mermaids circling the shell. Subsequently followed by parade from different schools and organization.
Traditional Costume or Modern Costume, Balloon costume or LED costume, the creativity never ends.
At the Grand Stage
At around 8pm, the VIP proceed to the grand stage and ready for the event. The merdeka field is also pack with spectators. Two LED big screen showing live video feed to the crowd at the field. Live video feed is connected to various camcorders around the grand stage and drone aerial footage.
